To celebrate quitting my job and begining my adventures as a stay-at-home-mom, I am going to challenge myself to not grocery shop (or really any shopping except for the wedding celebrations we have coming up!) for at least 2 weeks. I'm actually hoping we make it a month- wish me luck! I have to admit though that we do get fresh milk delivered weekly from our hershare program where we own part of a herd of dairy goats. So, fresh milk+ garden + pantry + freezer= NO SHOPPING!!! I imagine this isn't going to be as challenging for me as it is for some families. I have been stock piling stuff for quite a while. We also purcahsed 1/2 of a side of beef a few months back and spent the entire summer freezing fruit. And we were gifted a bunch of ground pork recently too! This should be an exciting challenge!!
Nick to the family out to East Fork State Park last night for an adventure. Ethan had the most fun! He ran along the water's edge and threw sand and laughed and giggled! I think he enjoyed every minute of it! We are going to start taking a family "field trip" every week to give us a chance to get-a-way without leaving the area. We're hoping to check out Stonelick State Park next! Family adventures were a big part of what I remember about my childhood. I hope that I can give that to my kids too! I can remember a drive my dad took us on just to go look at a huge planting of "wildflowers" in the middle of a highway. He just asked us to all get in the car and without telling us where we were going, drove us to this flowery spot. It was a great adventure!!
Here's hoping your family finds some adventure this fall!
